End The Dog & Cat Meat Trade

We created this page to bring awareness about the dog & cat meat trade worldwide and to fight against it with all the resources we have. This trade is an abomination and it shouldn't be tolerated in a civilized society. Dogs & cats are friends not food!

Every year around 30 million of dogs and cats are brutalized and killed for meat, in many Asian countries – China, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia...etc. In China alone it is estimated that approx. 10 million dogs and cats are tortured and killed for meat consumption every year. During the infamous Yulin festival in China (it lasts for 10 days), it is estimated that approx. 10,000 dogs & cats are killed and eaten. They blame it on tradition. Inhumane methods are practiced in killing those dogs in barbaric fashion. Most of those dogs and cats suffer for hours until they die. Few of such methods are burning them alive, skinning them alive, clubbing them and hanging them to death. The ridiculous and disgusting belief which exists among the locals is that the more the animal is tortured the better it tastes. This is the major reason why the butchers use violent methods to kill the dogs in the most inhumane fashion.

In China, many dogs who go through this atrocious fate are pets. They are stolen every year by groups of thugs and delivered to the butchers in slaughterhouses. No dog deserves to go through the fate that millions of dogs go through every year.

South Korea is the only country in the world known to have established a large-scale intensive dog meat farming industry, in which more than 2.5 million dogs a year endure brutal lives and painful deaths for their meat. The suffering of these dogs is undeniable. They are kept in small barren cages, without protection from the harsh elements or even a solid floor on which to stand. Physical injury from self-mutilation or fighting are commonplace, and death from disease, hunger, or exposure is prevalent. For those who survive the grim farm life, death by electrocution is painful and terrifying.

Dogs are slaughtered in the most brutal and painful methods, often in front of other dogs which watch in fear for their lives. They are beaten, stabbed, hanged, butchered, thrown into pots of boiling water, skinned, electrocuted or blow torched - often whilst still alive. This inhumane torture has to stop!

Compassion towards beings, including our fellow animals, is the direction towards which any enlightened society must aspire. South Korea for example is a successful and prosperous nation, but it is not ‘enlightened’. There is little compassion shown to any of these animals, in any of the processes in the dog and cat meat trades.

This cruelty and suffering must end, and we cannot see it ending until the Governments of these countries put a complete stop to these aberrant trades – trades which have no place in any modern-day society.

South Korea is a country that boasts a wealth of high-profile companies, with a 14th GDP rating; and if it still wishes to be seen as a modern, forward-thinking, civilized society, then the Korean Government must rethink its policy on allowing these illegal and unjustifiable trades to continue.

We in America attest to the true inhumane nature of consumption of domesticated pets. We are urging their governments to rethink its support of an industry that perpetuates deplorable treatment of dogs and cats. Let us stand together and get the dog and cat meat trade out of existence for good!
